i take a break to glance out the window
at the neighbor kids relishing their day off
climbing a tree, a coat hanging from a limb
chasing, laughing, giggling, screaming
their watchful dobies join in
rolling, frolicking, yipping excitedly
delighting in this moment with their people
Not all had the day off. Some schools here had to be in session to make up for a December snow day. The rural routes can be hazardous up and down hills. There is a joy watching children play :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing happy children play has always been a pleasure for me. They haven't yet developed the inhibitions that adults usually have, so we get to see the real personalities. :-)
DeleteThe kids here would love to have a snow day, if it would just snow! We've had cold weather and a little ice, but so far only about an inch of snow on a Sunday that lasted part of the day! They have had luck the last two winters!
Oh, as long as you are screening your comments you might consider eliminating the captcha code. Sometimes they are tricky to interpret. But I'll still come and visit. Though I know others who will not deal with the captcha code.
ReplyDeleteI will look at it. I didn't know it was doing that. Thanks for the heads up!
