the hawk sails high overhead
scans the snow covered ground
for brave souls who dare to venture
dangerously into the white open space
hawk sails high
scans for brave creatures
in white open

Each image is crisp and new--I love the first--tho not a haiku for the idea of a hawk scaring us from our writing though I know you speak of snow (spell check sales/sails)--and the rewrite rocks as does your view of other flying things. For the balloons, I sensed them looking at me standing in the tall grass.
