  2. Just when you think the winter wind is long past, it whooshes out from wherever it's been hiding and bites your cheeks and nose!

  3. Although I love spring, I must hold my nose the week the lilacs bloom, or sneeze my brains out! And I will be so thankful when the winter wind flies away for good!

    1. I'm sorry to hear that WabiSabi! I feel lucky that lilac isn't too bad for me (elm and maple are a different story, though). At least the lilac cycle is short lived... :-)

  5. what i liked most about your haiku is how you have sketched both sides of the juncture in a haiku - the past which is winter and the future which is spring . .beautifully crafted too :)

  6. ...and yet I've seen lilacs whipped by winds that seem to arise out of nowhere...

    1. Very true Mark. But I like to call those "strong spring winds". My attempt at willing winter away... :-)

  7. WOW! What a wonderful haiku you share here with us at Carpe Diem. I love the fragility in the words you have used. This could have been written by one of our classical haiku masters. Chapeau!
